Home collection. Home is such a common term and yet it conveys so many different meanings. In the highly mobile twenty-first century, who doesn’t experience homesickness once in a while or forever in their lives? No matter where one is, home seems so cozy and yet so temporary. Even if a person never has to move away from their birthplace, due to professional or personal reasons, he or she will inevitably step out of the home and temporarily be in a different place. Where there is a precious someone or something, he or she will have a hard time leaving, inevitably they will feel homesick too. Therefore, we all experience homesickness at some level in our lifetime. In my own case, a lifetime of moving, immigrating and traveling contributed to a life rich in experience yet resulted in an identity crisis, the term home has become so hard to define. There are so many people and places that I love and miss in this world. When you stop in a place you attempt to own it by creating connections and attachments, that is unless you never integrate, respond, connect or relate. What would be the point of living if you stop feeling? To be truly alive one must feel. When you feel, you create attachments. When there are attachments the term home no longer bears the simple definition of a dwelling where we sleep, our birthplace or even where our parents or families are. Home could be a space where you feel comfortable and safe, a hometown, an unforgettable country or even an abstract territory in our heart. If staying in all the places we are longing for is impossible, why not take home with you, wherever you are and wherever you go? Wear it on you. Home is where you are.
